This section discusses what Hummel sought to convey through his 1828 publication, A Complete Theoretical and Practical Course of Instruction on the Art of Playing the Pianoforte, Op. 157, and how it helps us to understand Hummel himself.

Elisabeth Röckel (15 March 1793 – 3 March 1883), a soprano singer and the wife of Hummel, was a figure who steadfastly supported his career both privately and professionally. Deeply intertwined with contemporary geniuses such as Beethoven, she also built her own distinctive artistic network.
